Don’t Make Any Rash Decisions (2024)

EmergiQuiz is an educational competition organized by the Section on Emergency Medicine (SOEM) of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). It’s a well-regarded event, featured at the AAP’s annual National Conference and Exhibition. EmergiQuiz presents real-life, complex pediatric emergency cases to challenge participants—often Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellows, residents, or other healthcare professionals. Four cases are chosen for online presentation each year.

EmergiQuiz unfolds in two parts:

1. Case Presentation: A case is introduced, often a complex or unusual pediatric emergency scenario. Participants are asked to think critically about the symptoms, findings, and potential diagnoses.

2. Diagnosis Reveal: After discussing possible diagnoses, the correct diagnosis is revealed, and the reasoning is explained, highlighting important clinical learning points.
